The problem
Africa's agricultural potential is not the constraint.
Despite that potential, the sector is held back by low productivity, climate vulnerability, high post-harvest losses, limited access to quality inputs and improved seeds, poor farm-to-market linkages, and a lack of compliance with international food safety standards.
Smallholder farmers lack access to precision technology, research-driven innovations, certified training and reliable markets. Agri-food companies, meanwhile, struggle with fragmented supply chains, inconsistent quality and limited value addition.
The result is food insecurity, reduced incomes, and missed opportunities for Africa to compete in the global agri-food market.
AFRI exists to close these gaps.
